New Year New Blogs -All about me!

Hello lovely people at welcome to Lampshades By Hannah's new blog!

2026 has arrived and I have decided to create a blog to discuss all things lampshade and décor. Things to remember though I have zero time and I am dyslexic so don't expect this to be a beautifully written essay! Each month I plan to write about different lampshades and décor subjects and also some of the services I offer.

This month I am going to kick off with a blog post about who I am and how I ended up running a lampshade business.

So I have been making lampshades for nearly 4 years now and I started by just going on a local workshop for an afternoon. I finished my lampshade before everyone else and it fair to say I loved it! My mum was amazed and was soon asking me to making lampshades for her home and then it spread to other family members. It fair to say I pretty much ran out of family members to give them to so I approached a local shop which had just open. To me surprise the lady owning the shop was only too happy to stock my lampshades.

My first lampshade!

It's fair to say without out that opportunity I don't think my crazy new hobby would have developed but that first 18 months allowed me to learn and experiment with different colours fabrics and techniques. I was completely fearless! I approached big retailers with the attitude I had nothing to loose! I was lucky to be accepted on to the local department store's website - Jarrolds of Norwich. I had pop up shops in John Lewis and Jarrolds in person.

Since then I continue to create new designs and find beautiful fabric for clients. I am now offering bespoke lampshades, I can make lampshades with customers fabric and also run workshops teaching the way I was taught, with extra hints and tips. I still get excited when I get a order through and every customer's lampshade is important to me.

I excited to start 2026 as another chapter and have new designs and fabrics to share!

Happy New Year Everyone from Hannah, The Boy and All Cats x
